I think about all of the dieting moms standing around and watching their kids play -- this could be fun for everyone. While I was there (in the middle of the day on a misty week day), I saw at least three people use it.

Chicago has a few stations along the lake front running/biking path with calisthenic type equipment. This is so much cooler! The tons of snow that we get in some winters would probably not be good for the equipment (the stuff along the lake has no moving parts - it's more like bars for pull ups & that kind of thing.) But it would be great in places like Palo Alto (& other California locations) that have milder weather. I bet it would be really popular there! The school that my grandsons go to is located in a park with a swimming pool & 2 different playgrounds. The one for smaller kids is always well used & I bet parents would love something like this.
