Knitting 40 shades of green

It's the monkey in me....

 Having watched the video clip, I am not entirely sure that I have ever seen the movie "Starstruck" and can only surmise that my sister must have had the soundtrack because I know every word to the song and yet have no other memory of this movie.  There were other songs too like, "I want to live in a house..."

There is something in the water at work, we easily have had at least three babies born to my colleagues ever year that I have worked there.  Well, one of my teaching partners is soon expecting a little girl and one day after she shared her excitement with me (right before running off to puke) this pattern came through my in box and I knew it was kismet.

I have changed the background to a dark green and I really need to get working on it since her last day at work is next Tuesday and she has started to have doubts that she will make it that long.  I have knit the back and am about a third of the way through the monkey...

Knitting for new fans

We have a pretty tight group of fans up in our little corner of the "phone booth".  We have inside jokes, nicknames, and traditions are that are purely ours.  We meet before and after games and share the occasional email. On my birthday, I baked cupcakes and bought a cupcake carrier (yes, I know that is questionable on the scale of hipness) and had a friend make lots of phone calls so that I could celebrate my birthday with this crazy bunch. So when Leigh announced she was pregnant with twins, and then Chris mentioned that his wife was expecting, I knew that I would have to make the new Caps fans something special.  Thank goodness the team changed their colors to ones that are readily available in yarn (although the dark blue wasn't a big color last fall).  I played around with some ideas and finally settled on Caps caps made from Debbie Bliss Cashmerino.

I only have pictures of one of them as the first two were presented before I had the chance to photograph them.  The last one almost made it out of my life without pictures as well but I took these on the metro on the way to the game.

  The first one was a little different than the last two as I tried to figure out how to make stars that looked like stars.  They were much smaller on the first hat and more than one person thought maybe they were supposed to look like mini hockey players.  Hopefully, I will eventually get pictures of the babies wearing them but I think they might have been a bit big for this season so I may have to wait until next season.
